Kaduna’s Bold Vision: 10,000 Homes to Transform Communities

In a groundbreaking move to tackle housing challenges head-on, the Kaduna State Government has unveiled ambitious plans to introduce 10,000 mass housing units across all 23 Local Government Areas in the state over the next four years.

The announcement was made by the dynamic Permanent Secretary of the Kaduna State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Malam Rabiu Yunusa, during the 12th Meeting of the National Council on Lands, Housing, and Urban Development in the heart of Kaduna. The meeting centered around the theme, ‘Harnessing local and international credit schemes as a panacea for affordable housing infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.’

At the forefront of this initiative is the administration of Senator Uba Sani, orchestrating a visionary Urban Renewal Project to provide accessible housing facilities for the masses. Yunusa revealed that the state government is diligently working on a comprehensive program to deliver affordable social mass housing across all 23 Local Government Areas.

A significant highlight is the collaboration with a Qatari charity organization, set to contribute 500 housing units for the most vulnerable in the state. This partnership underscores the state’s commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that every citizen has a place to call home. Notably, the state is gearing up to construct a total of 10,000 housing units within the next four years.

Yunusa emphasized that the council serves as a dynamic platform, bringing together key stakeholders in the building industry. Their collective mission is to brainstorm innovative ways to fuel the growth and development of the sector, ensuring that housing solutions are not only substantial but also sustainable.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara, accompanied by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke, recently conducted a thorough inspection of the project site. Expressing his satisfaction with the progress made so far, the governor commended the contracting firm, Raffoul Construction Company, for their dedication. He underscored the state government’s commitment by reiterating, “We had an understanding with the contractor, and we did our part of the commitment, so we are here to see what they are doing because we have given them a timeline when the project should be completed.”

This initiative is not just about erecting buildings; it’s a testament to the state’s pledge to the Federal Government. During a recent visit to the President, the governor promised to create an alternative route to decongest the East-West Road, showcasing Kaduna’s commitment to consolidation and continuity.

As the project unfolds, Kaduna is not just building houses; it’s constructing the foundations for stronger communities, fulfilling promises, and carving a path toward a brighter, more sustainable future. The governor’s charge to the contractors echoes the urgency and determination behind this transformative endeavor—to ensure that the dream of 10,000 homes becomes a reality at the earliest possible time.
