THE FULL LIST: Lagos comes in as 19th best city in 2024, surpassing Miami and Dubai.

Lagos is now ranked as the 19th best city in the world to visit, according to travel and magazine publisher Time Out.

The only other African cities on the list were Lagos; the other two were Accra, Ghana, and Cape Town, South Africa, which came in second and fourth, respectively.

Time Out claimed to have derived its conclusion via polling over 20,000 urbanites worldwide and consulting with its editorial network.

Food (both quality and price), nightlife, culture, how a city makes people feel, strong sense of community, availability of open space, historical landmarks, and many other factors are taken into consideration when ranking the cities.

International visitors were urged to the city by the report.

“There’s something for everyone to enjoy in Lagos, the most populous city in Africa, whether they are native to Lekki or devoted to the mainland.”

As seen by the live-work-play concept Eko Atlantic City, the city and its suburbs are growing. A little outside of the city, Epe is booming on the northern edge of Lekki Lagoon.

The research stated, “When it comes to standard of living, Lagos has a lot going for it: 92 percent of residents rate the city as friendly, 96 percent of residents say they are happy, and 98 percent would describe Lagos as beautiful.”

The article also praised Oniru Beach as a place to unwind and Victoria Island’s trio of posh resorts, dining destinations, and nightlife. Kuti’s Bistro in Ikeja is run by the renowned afrobeat family and is known for its “reliably delicious food.”

Lagos ranked as the fourth worst city in the world to live in according to the Economist Intelligence Unit in 2023.

Lagos received a higher score than the capitals of Libya, Algeria, and Syria, the latter of which is presently plagued by conflict.

Stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure are the five basic categories that the research covered with a survey of 173 cities and 30 qualitative and quantitative indicators.
