How President Tinubu is Tackling Housing Deficit – FHA director
To solve the nation’s housing shortage, President Bola Tinubu’s administration is constructing at least 50,000 homes across the 36 states of the federation within the next year, according to Oluremi Omowaiye, Executive Director of Projects Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority.
At a retreat held in Birmingham City for the newly elected executives of the All-Progressives Congress, United Kingdom Chapter, he made such statement.
The former Osun State Commissioner for Works stated in a paper titled “Tinubu’s Government is Tackling Housing Deficit” that Tinubu had issued an order requiring the housing projects to be finished in a year.

“Because we are looking at affordable houses, we are engaging in many things to reduce the cost of building without compromising safety and standard.”
He continued by saying that the company was actively branching out into clay brick construction, which is primarily utilized in the UK.
“There is a need to diversify into clay brick building since clay is easily accessible in much of the nation as part of efforts to lower the cost of construction.”
“We are collaborating with academia in this regard. Our research unit in the Oyetunde Ojo-led Federal Housing Authority is working assiduously on how to effectively use the locally sourced materials for our housing projects,” he concluded.
Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima estimates that in 2023, Nigeria will require N21 trillion to address its housing demands due to a 28 million dwelling deficit.
